MULTICULTURAL OR BICULTURAL, THAT IS THE QUESTION…
(Published in El Correo Canadiense) By Sergio Granillo Beyond the unexpected strength of the “Loonie”, which shows that the Canadian economy is getting better results than the American, there is something that is moving in and making a difference between the two countries, immigration. To make my point, I will speak of a personal recent experience… “Going by the book”, to acquire the so called “Canadian experience”, through networking, I chose to make part of a group called CAMP (Communications, Advertising and Marketing Professionals), integrated by immigrants from different countries; the group was created to facilitate newcomers contact with professionals of this industry. In every meeting there is a guest speaker, in the last one it was the Marketing Vice President of a company leader in greeting cards; the speaker, immigrant too, was born in Kansas (US) and was assigned by his company to move to Canada to boost their presence in this marketplace.
